Study some warning signs within a developmental and social context that relate to violence and other troubling behaviors in children

Statutes, regulations, and policies relating to a safe nonviolent school climate

Learn about the state requirements for Character Education and discuss strategies for implementation

All applicants for a certificate on or after February 2, 2001 are required to complete at least two clock hours of course work or training in school violence prevention and intervention in accordance with section 3004 of the Education Law. This includes applicants for certificates in administrative and supervisor service, classroom teaching service, and pupil personnel service.

FROM ROCKLAND (WEST)
Tappan Zee Bridge via the NY Thruway. Take Exit 8 to I-287. Get off first Exit for Elmsford, Route 119. East on Route 119 to Route 9A North (traffic light). Turn left and go North on Route 9A, passing Sam's Club. At second light, turn right into the Cross Westchester Executive Park at Hunter Lane and take next right onto Westchester Plaza. Building is third on left (No. 2). Continue past building and turn left into the large parking lot. Look for BOCES blue awning.

FROM THE EAST
Take I-287 West, getting off at Exit 2, Elmsford. Turn right onto Route 9A North. Follow above.

FROM THE NORTH
Via the Taconic State Parkway: South to Sprain Brook Parkway. Get off at the Eastview Exit (100C). Turn right at end of exit (traffic light) onto 100C. Follow 100C to first traffic light (sign on left: "Cross Westchester Executive Park"). Turn left onto Clearbrook Road. Go to end of road and turn left onto Executive Blvd. Take next right onto Westchester Plaza and building is third on left, No. 2. Continue past building and turn left into large parking lot. Look for blue BOCES awning.
Via the Saw Mill River Parkway: South to Eastview Exit. Left onto Route 100C. Follow 100C for about 1 mile and turn right onto Clearbrook Road. Follow above.

FROM THE SOUTH
Via the Sprain Brook Parkway: North to Eastview Exit. At light, turn left onto Route100C. At third light turn left onto Clearbrook Road. Follow above.
Via the Saw Mill River Parkway: North to Eastview Exit. Turn right onto 100C. Follow 100C for about 1 mile and turn right onto Clearbrook Road. Follow above.
