    Provided by NYSCATE: Respons-Able Educator Certification

    Winter New York Educator Cohort . The program is asynchronous self-paced online learning in combination with two (2) synchronous online cohort gatherings. The Respons-Able Educator Certification (REC) is a whole new way to help teachers embed and implement digital citizenship elements in their classroom. Based on tens of thousands of hours teaching digital citizenship to students, this professional learning helps teachers build skills in not only their students, but themselves. The REC program addresses digital citizenship holistically, covering topics such as media literacy, communication, the digital economy and more. It has downloadables, lesson plans, videos and other guides that teachers can use long after they finish the program. With 10 self-study asynchronous modules, teachers who complete REC can earn be school digital leaders, changing the culture and education around digital citizenship. 15 CTLE credits available from completing this course

    Nurturing Academic Integrity in the Age of AI (Online, Self Paced)

    AI technology has brought forth transformative possibilities for teaching and learning. However, along with its benefits, AI also presents new challenges in maintaining academic integrity. This workshop is designed to equip educators with the ability to integrate AI strategies and tools while nurturing the fundamentals of authenticity, ethics, and originality.


    NOTE: This course is 100% online and will take approximately 6 hours to complete. This course begins on March 25, 2024, and participants have until June 15 to complete all required assignments and activities to receive CTLE credit.

    Building Foundational Skills for the Elementary Digital Learner (Hybrid)

    [Lifelong Practices for Digital Fluency/Literacy: Apply to Practice] Building Foundational Skills for the Elementary Digital Learner (Hybrid) This workshop is designed to provide elementary classroom teachers with an opportunity to develop strategies for teaching digital literacy foundational skills that are developmentally appropriate for their specific grade levels. The workshop will focus on integrating technology into daily classroom instruction to enhance student learning. The course will cover topics such as basic digital skills, digital citizenship and using digital tools for research, expression, practice and application. The workshop will meet twice virtually and the remainder of the requirements will be online. This course consists of two virtual meetings (April 25 from 3-4 and May 30th from 3-4), supplemented by four hours of online coursework. The online course will be open from April 29-May 29th.

  • The Rose Institute for Learning and Literacy: Orton Gillingham Educator Training

    Offered through the Rose Institute for Learning and Literacy, Classroom Educator Training introduces participants to the fundamental elements of an Orton-Gillingham based approach characterized by explicit teaching of foundational literacy skills. The course includes an introduction to phonology and basic phonics, and focuses on instruction to promote fluency, vocabulary acquisition, and an understanding of the structure of the language. The content includes information on dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities, strategies for multisensory instruction, using assessment results for small/large group lessons, and planning an Orton-Gillingham lesson. The scientifically based methodology is explicit, interactive, diagnostic, multisensory, and integrated. The course is designed for general and special-education teachers, administrators, curriculum specialists, and speech and reading specialists, and is recommended for instructional assistants and tutors.

    Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of course completion from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practioners and Educators. Attendance at all sessions is required. Materials will be included. A Zoom link will be provided prior to the start of the course.
